“Med Dialogue Leaders” Bootcamp: Entrepreneurship for social and solidarity economy20.01.2021
The “Med Dialogue For rights and Equality” programme, financed by the EU, organizes the 2nd edition of “Med Dialogue Leaders”, a capacity development scheme for young leaders, focusing on “Entrepreneurship for social and solidarity economy”. The first step is a capacity development Bootcamp; due to the recent Covid-19 developments, this event will take place online, from October 14th to 18th 2020. It will gather 34 young leaders from 10 Arab countries (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia).
This Bootcamp aims at developing regional networks as well as a common advocacy and awareness raising action, and at building capacities around the thematic of entrepreneurship for social and solidarity economy. To this end, international experts will provide methodological support as well as specific coaching to participants, in order to boost their creativity and to enhance their knowledge.
In margin of this event, young participants will have access to an online tour of Istanbul City Lab Experience Center, a well-known urban innovation hub, to debate about implemented innovative projects. They will also have the opportunity to exchange with Italian economist Lorenzo Becchetti, founder of the School of Civil Economy, and Mohamed Madhkour, the father of the Tunisian Law on social economy.
The online Bootcamp will be structured in plenary sessions and working groups, whereby participants will develop a common advocacy and awareness action, which shall then take place simultaneously in the Leaders’ regions within three months from the completion of the Bootcamp. To this end the “Med Dialogue For rights and Equality” team will provide coaching support during the different implementation phases.
It is recalled that the 1st edition of “Med Dialogue Leaders” Bootcamp was organized under the theme “Addressing the ecological challenges in the Mediterranean”. It gathered 31 Leaders at a 5-day Bootcamp held in Tunisia in January 2020. It was an opportunity for them to develop the project ideas and finally to launch simultaneously last June 2020 the common action “10 Days for the Mediterranean” in their own regions.
Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality is a 3-year (2019-2022) EU-funded technical assistance regional programme with the overall objective to strengthen the role of CSOs active at the regional scale, in building sustainable development, regional cohesion and social resilience, as well as influencing policy-making in the South end Neighborhood and the Euro-Mediterranean region.
