Public debate “The Mediterranean as our common destiny: an historical utopia or a concrete possibility?”02.11.2021
Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality EU-funded Programme invites you to a roundtable on “The Mediterranean as our common destiny: an historical utopia or a concrete possibility?”. This event will take place on Tuesday 16th November, 2021 at 5pm in Brussels (Belgium), in Les Ateliers des Tanneurs (Rue des Tanneurs 58-62, 1000 Brussels).
Come in person to the roundtable! Or join us online to hear what the panellists have to share about the dream of a Mediterranean as a common house!
The discussion panel will include members of the European Parliament Ms. Salima Yenbou (Greens/EFA), Ms. Isabel Santos (S&D, TBC) and Mr. Antonio Lopez-Isturiz White (EPP, TBC); Mr. Pedro Roque (Vice President, The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean); and Mr. John Paul Grech (Vice-Secretary, the Union for the Mediterranean). The civil society will be represented by Ms. Oumayma Jabnouni (Tunisian League of Human Rights) and Mr. Khaled Mansour (Arab Reform Initiative’s senior analyst). The discussion will be opened by Ms. Henrike Trautmann, DG NEAR B, Acting Director.
The roundtable will be followed by a ‘networking reception’ buffet, a great opportunity for you to exchange and make new connections with civil society groups and regional institutions and grow your network.
To participate and to secure a place in the audience, kindly respond to this invitation before November 14th, 2021, by filling in this online form – specifying whether you would like to attend in presence or online. The roundtable will last 2 hours; interpretation in English, French and Arabic is available for the registered persons.
The roundtable takes place in the framework of “Vision Med 2030 North-South” – a 3-days event bringing together over fifty civil society and regional institutions from both sides of the Mediterranean to envision a common future for the region and launch a pilot advocacy campaign on the ‘Mediterranean as a common destiny’.
NB: For Covid safe reasons, only vaccinated or tested participants can attend the in presence event.
